What types of dental care for dogs do you offer at your clinic?

Under general anesthesia, complete dental cleanings including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatment can be performed. We also do dental radiographs and dental extractions.

How often should you brush your dog’s teeth?

You need regular dental care and you brush your teeth every day, why wouldn’t your pet? Brushing every day is the gold standard for anyone’s oral care, even your dogs.

Why is oral and dental health important?

Dental disease can lead to problems with your pet’s organs, such as the heart. Periodontal disease is an infection of the tissue surrounding the teeth. It starts out with a bacterial film called plaque. The film attaches to the teeth and then becomes calcified by the calcium in the pet’s saliva. This forms a hard substance called tartar, which allows more plaque to accumulate. If left alone, the plaque can cause gingivitis, an inflammation of the gums that causes them to become red and swollen, and bleed easily. If it is still unchecked, it can cause an infection around the root of the tooth, which can lead to the tissues surrounding the tooth being destroyed and the tooth becomes loose. Which, as you can imagine, can be quite painful for your loved one!
