Keeping your cat at their ideal weight range and size with a safe diet regimen.
Being overweight can impact your cat’s health significantly. It can cause joint problems and diabetes among other things. It is always easier to put on the weight than it is to take it off, so by being proactive and feeding an appropriate amount of food, you can help decrease the problems that come with being overweight in the long run!
The rule of thumb is you should be able to feel your cat’s ribs with a slight fat cover when running your hands down their sides. You shouldn’t have to dig in to feel the ribs and they shouldn’t be sticking out. If you have to dig in your cat is probably storing some extra weight. We can help you get that weight down so that your cat will live a long and healthy life!
Feeding a diet that helps with weight loss is a great first step. We can help you decide which food is going to work best for your cat. Also, little things like moving the food dish so your cat has to walk more to get to it, or using a toy that drops pieces of kibble out of it, will help your cat stay active.
We will assess your pet’s body condition score and discuss your cat’s lifestyles and nutritional needs. We will then make a nutritional recommendation based on our discussion.
